Construction is the second largest industry in the world, yet it faces a massive efficiency gap. While software teams have long relied on observability platforms to stay on track, construction projects often lack the automated feedback loops needed to prevent budget overruns and schedule delays. This lack of transparency results in billions of dollars in annual waste. At Doxel AI, we are changing that by bringing computer vision to the jobsite. Our platform helps teams from hospitals to data centers make informed, data-driven decisions every day. We are currently scaling our impact and are proud to be trusted by industry leaders like Shell Oil, Genentech, and Kaiser. We invite you to join us in building the intelligence that powers the infrastructure of the future.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a remote position open to candidates anywhere. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and maintaining the resilient, scalable systems that serve as the backbone of our AI-driven platform. You will tackle complex infrastructure challenges, ensuring that terabytes of real-time jobsite data are processed and delivered effectively to support our 3D visualizations and forecasting engines.
Core responsibilities
- Design and scale robust backend systems and data pipelines to handle complex ingestion, processing, and analytics tasks.
- Develop high-performance APIs that power our real-time 3D web applications, dashboards, and mobile tools.
- Collaborate closely with our computer vision, frontend, and product teams to deliver seamless end-to-end features that solve real-world construction problems.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- At least 4 years of professional experience in backend or systems engineering.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Go, or Node.js.
- A deep commitment to test-driven development, with a focus on writing reliable, high-quality code.
- Extensive experience designing and maintaining scalable microservices and distributed systems.
- Practical knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD best practices, system monitoring, and asynchronous processing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable solutions.
- Bonus points if you have experience working with computer vision models, 3D data, or large-scale unstructured media pipelines.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in supporting our team members both professionally and personally. Our benefits package includes:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family.
- Unlimited vacation policy to ensure you have time to recharge.
- Flexible hours and a fully remote work environment.
- The opportunity to work at the intersection of AI and physical construction, contributing to projects that shape the world.
How to apply
If you are a curious engineer who thrives on solving tough technical problems and wants to make a tangible impact on the construction industry, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our mission-driven team as we continue to scale our platform and bring new levels of intelligence to the built world.
