Associate Design Director at Hook

We are currently looking for a hands-on Associate Design Director to join our remote-first team.

Key outcomes

• Lead and oversee high-impact design projects, ensuring all deliverables meet our agency standards and client expectations.
• Mentor and manage at least two direct reports, fostering their professional growth through skill development and constructive feedback.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, using your expertise in visual systems to communicate design narratives effectively.
• Collaborate closely with creative, motion, and production teams to push the boundaries of conceptual design.
• Maintain a high level of craftsmanship across various mediums, including static, animated, and web-based content.
• Balance multiple project priorities while maintaining a clear, strategic vision for each campaign.
• Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and experimentation to elevate the collective output of the department.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in visual design, with a portfolio demonstrating mastery in brand identity, campaign development, and multi-platform visual systems.
• Proven ability to lead motion design projects, including experience with storyboarding and animation workflows.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, with strong comfort using Figma.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to advocate for creative ideas to both internal teams and clients.
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership and a genuine passion for mentoring designers.
• A collaborative, optimistic, and conceptual mindset.
• Ability to work effectively within Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours.

Preferred qualifications

• Proficiency in After Effects for motion design.
• Experience with 3D design using Cinema 4D.
• Skills in illustration and web prototyping using Webflow.
