Crystal Dynamics has spent over 30 years building a legacy of iconic game development, and we are looking for a passionate Associate Camera Designer to help us shape the future of franchises like Tomb Raider and the next Perfect Dark. This is a remote, full-time opportunity for an entry-level professional to learn the ropes of AAA development while working alongside our talented, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Help design and implement camera systems that elevate our gameplay, cinematics, and overall player immersion.
- Work closely with senior designers, artists, and programmers to integrate these systems directly into the game engine.
- Contribute creative concepts for camera angles, movements, and transitions during team brainstorming sessions.
- Assist in creating technical documentation, including shot lists, flowcharts, and design specifications.
- Conduct regular playtesting to identify areas for improvement and gather actionable feedback.
- Refine camera behavior based on testing results to ensure a smooth, high-quality experience for our players.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with your team to stay aligned on project goals and deadlines.
Must-haves
- A degree in Film Production, Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related discipline.
- A foundational understanding of camera design principles and methodologies.
- Practical familiarity with game development software, specifically Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a genuine passion for cinematic game experiences.
- A portfolio that highlights your camera design work, whether from personal projects or academic assignments.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on experience with camera design tools in Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Basic knowledge of programming or scripting languages used in game development.
- Experience collaborating on creative projects, such as game jams.
- Familiarity with animation or 3D modeling software.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to work within a team-oriented environment.
- An active interest in keeping up with the latest industry trends and design advancements.

The salary range for this position is 50,000 to 70,000 USD or 50,000 to 70,000 CAD, depending on your location.
