Applied Research Scientist at saas.group

We are looking for a Senior Applied Research Scientist to join our team at Prerender. We operate a dynamic rendering SaaS that ensures websites remain visible to search crawlers, AI bots, and autonomous agents. Since 2017, we have served over 2.7 billion unique pages, and as part of saas.group, we are now focused on defining the new discipline of machine visibility. We are sitting on a massive, untapped dataset of crawl activity, and we need an expert to help us understand how the web is being reshaped by machines.

About the Role

This is a full-time, remote position. As our first dedicated researcher, you will work directly with our CEO to build our research function from the ground up. You will have full autonomy to shape our research agenda, develop the necessary data infrastructure, and produce original insights that define how the industry understands AI crawlers and automated web navigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Build research infrastructure: Organize and structure our existing data while designing new collection streams to enable systematic analysis.
• Conduct original research: Own the entire research lifecycle, from framing hypotheses and designing methodologies to publishing findings under your own name.
• Inform business strategy: Collaborate with our product, engineering, and sales teams to provide evidence-based insights that influence our roadmap and investment decisions.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter with a strong background in research and data science. We require the following qualifications:

• Proven experience conducting and publishing original research in either an academic or industry setting.
• Deep proficiency in SQL and Python for hands-on, large-scale data analysis.
• Strong expertise in experiment design, including hypothesis formulation, statistical validation, and outcome measurement.
• Experience building data pipelines and infrastructure from the ground up.
• Comfortable integrating AI tools into your research workflows to accelerate pattern recognition and synthesis.

Location

This role is 100% remote, with a preference for candidates who have overlap with EU timezones.
