Now we're looking for an Applied Research Engineer who wants to turn the latest alignment breakthroughs into production systems that shape the next wave of intelligent technology.
Role at a glance
Applied Research Engineer, full-time, senior-level position. The role is hybrid, with two office days each week at either our San Francisco or Wrocław hub, and the rest remote.
Your impact
- Design and ship new methods such as RLHF and Direct Preference Optimization that turn human feedback into reliable training signals for frontier models.
- Build measurement and refinement systems that raise the quality of human-in-the-loop data, directly improving model performance and safety.
- Create AI-assisted labeling tools that use active learning and adaptive sampling to cut manual effort while boosting accuracy for our customers.
What you'll need
A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field, plus at least three years of hands-on experience solving complex ML problems that reach production. You bring deep knowledge of large language and multimodal models, proven skill in designing data-quality systems, and fluency in Python with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow. A track record of publications at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, or NAACL shows you can move research into real-world prototypes quickly. Strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate across research and product teams round out the profile. English fluency is required.
Perks and compensation
Annual base salary range for United States-based candidates: $250,000-$300,000 USD. We offer a hybrid schedule with two office days per week, direct ties between impact and career growth, and the chance to work at the frontier of human-centric AI alongside leading investors and customers.
