At Arc’teryx, we are dedicated to creating innovative apparel solutions for climbing, hiking, and snow sports. As a Designer 1 – Climb, you will support our design team in North Vancouver to develop high-performance gear that meets the evolving needs of our community, with a specific focus on alpine, rock, and gym climbing disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Designer by creating patterns, mock-ups, and prototypes while exploring new construction techniques.
- Contribute to the execution of seasonal projects by preparing detailed spec drawings, fit directions, and fabric information.
- Collaborate with the materials team to test new fabrics and ensure all necessary components are ready for prototyping.
- Document insights from athlete meetings and maintain clear, up-to-date product illustrations throughout the development cycle.
- Partner with Product Development, fit specialists, and manufacturing partners to resolve construction challenges.
- Support team scheduling and track progress against line plans to ensure project timelines are met.
- Participate in design reviews and share work-in-progress to foster collaborative problem-solving.
Must-haves
- A degree in apparel design combined with at least 3 years of hands-on experience.
- Technical proficiency in the Adobe Suite and digital pattern software such as CLO3D or equivalent.
- Intermediate skills in the full design process, including sketching, sewing, and complex garment construction.
- Proven ability to pattern and prototype new products while developing creative construction methods.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- A proactive, agile mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Fluency in English and eligibility to work in Canada.
