AI/ML Engineer at Rackner

Rackner is looking for a Senior AI/ML Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. We are a software consultancy dedicated to building mission-critical systems for the U.S. government, and we need your expertise to help our federal clients navigate the lifecycle of artificial intelligence from initial concept to secure, production-ready deployment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and define practical AI use cases that solve real operational challenges within federal data modernization environments.
• Design, build, and deploy intelligent agents, automated workflows, and AI-driven applications.
• Manage the full development lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, production deployment, and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Utilize Python to develop prototypes, integrate systems, and automate complex processes.
• Connect AI capabilities with enterprise APIs, data platforms, and existing workflows.
• Create intelligent document processing solutions for tasks like summarization, classification, and data extraction.
• Evaluate generative AI and LLM platforms for security, scalability, and organizational fit.
• Establish responsible AI controls, including human-in-the-loop oversight, risk management, and model performance monitoring.
• Leverage tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio to enhance enterprise automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, data, and governance experts, to ensure sustainable AI adoption.

Must-haves

• Proven experience building, evaluating, and deploying AI/ML solutions in professional environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python development.
• Hands-on experience with Machine Learning, LLMs, and applied AI technologies.
• Ability to integrate AI solutions with complex enterprise systems and APIs.
• A solid understanding of the entire AI delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering to post-production iteration.
• Familiarity with AI governance, risk management, and responsible AI practices.
• An active Secret clearance.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Azure AI, Microsoft Fabric, or related Microsoft technology stacks.
• Expertise in building AI agents or agentic workflows.
• Background in predictive analytics, forecasting, or natural language processing.
• Prior experience working within federal, defense, or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of intelligent document processing and advanced evaluation frameworks.
