AI Lead Engineer at DFINITY

At DFINITY we are building the Internet Computer, the fastest and only infinitely scalable general-purpose blockchain. A team of more than two hundred cryptographers, distributed systems engineers, and programming language experts maintains this world computer that now hosts Web3 dApps, DeFi, games, NFTs, social media, and metaverse projects. We believe the tamper-proof execution guarantees of smart contracts can solve one of AI’s core challenges-trust in the underlying models-by moving training and inference on-chain so users can verify they are interacting with trustworthy systems.

The role

We are hiring a Senior AI Lead Engineer on a full-time hybrid basis. The position is based in Zurich and requires three days of in-office work each week. You will guide the technical and product direction of AI on the Internet Computer, combining deep engineering experience with the leadership skills needed to shape a new category of trustworthy, on-chain AI services.

Core responsibilities

• Define the mid- and long-term roadmap for AI capabilities on the Internet Computer and identify product-market fit for use cases that demand an extra layer of trust.
• Maintain and optimize the AI libraries that smart contracts rely on for training and inference, and drive the integration of hardware acceleration through standards such as WebAssembly WASI-NN and research into deterministic AI computation.
• Represent DFINITY at conferences and events while supporting and collaborating with the growing decentralized AI community on the Internet Computer.

Skills and experience

We are looking for candidates who bring senior-level software engineering expertise and a proven record of designing, training, and deploying custom AI or machine-learning models that have reached real-world adoption. Experience with AI model transformation and deterministic AI techniques is highly valued. You should also demonstrate the ability to translate customer needs into product requirements, communicate complex topics clearly to researchers, engineers, and community members alike, and lead projects or small teams toward ambitious goals with an entrepreneurial mindset. Fluency in English is required.
