AI Engineer Manager at Artefact

As an AI Engineer Manager at Artefact, you will shape and drive the development of data and AI solutions - from ideation to implementation - while leading project teams, advising clients at C-level, and developing our data and AI capabilities across industries.

Your responsibilities:

Lead.
You take end-to-end ownership of data and AI engagements - from scoping and strategy to delivery and scaling. You lead cross-functional teams and are accountable for both client success and technical excellence.

Architect.
You design advanced data and AI systems using LLMs and related technologies, setting standards for architecture, scalability, performance, and governance.

Advise.
You work closely with senior client stakeholders (up to C-level), helping them identify relevant data and AI opportunities, define business cases, and adopt data and AI responsibly and sustainably.

Mentor.
You lead by example. You coach and develop more junior team members, share your expertise internally and externally, and play a key role in shaping our data and AI community and innovation roadmap.

Scale.
You contribute to Artefact’s strategic growth in data and AI - by supporting presales, building partnerships, developing reusable assets, and helping us stay ahead of market trends.

What you’ll drive:

• AI and data projects across industries such as healthcare, automotive, FMCG, or finance - with impact on search, customer interaction, knowledge management, content creation, and automation.
• Complex data and AI architectures involving RAG pipelines, vector databases, fine-tuned models, multimodal solutions, and enterprise-grade MLOps.
• Engagements with leading platforms and tools: OpenAI, GCP Vertex AI, LangChain, Hugging Face, LlamaIndex, Weights & Biases, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, etc.

• Visionary. You stay ahead of emerging data and AI trends and know how to translate them into business value and scalable use cases.
• Collaborative. You can inspire and align diverse teams, from technical experts to non-technical stakeholders and business leaders.
• Responsible. You advocate for safe, ethical, and explainable data and AI applications.

Profile:

• 5+ years of professional experience in AI/ML - with at least 2 years working on AI or LLM-based solutions.
• Proven track record in delivering complex data and AI projects end-to-end - including architecture, stakeholder management, and scaling.
• Strong technical background in software engineering, machine learning, or AI product development.
• Deep knowledge of data and AI ecosystems (LLMs, embeddings, vector stores, RAG, model tuning, evaluation).
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), Python, and MLOps toolchains (Docker, K8s, CI/CD, monitoring).
• Strong communication and leadership skills – able to work in English and German and present to both, technical and executive audiences.
• Experience in leading teams or mentoring engineers is a must; experience in consulting or presales is a strong advantage.
