The role
We are hiring a 4G/5G Packet Core Engineer to join us full time on an on-site basis in Canada. This mid-level position centers on hands-on work with packet core technologies, where you will contribute directly to network architecture, integration projects, and performance improvements that keep our systems running at scale.
Core responsibilities
- Design, instantiate, and integrate 4G and 5G packet core network elements while ensuring stable operation across lab and production environments.
- Troubleshoot complex networking issues and optimize performance using detailed knowledge of 4G LTE and 5G call flows.
- Develop and customize performance reports in Excel with Visual Basic, and create supporting documentation and diagrams in PowerPoint or Visio.
Skills and experience
- One to two years of direct experience with 5G cloud packet core functions including AMF, SMF/UPF, and ideally NRF.
- Proven expertise with 4G/LTE EPC core components such as MME (CMM/WMM) and gateways (SAEGW/CMG).
- Strong background in container-based architectures and Kubernetes for deploying and managing network workloads.
- Thorough understanding of 4G and 5G call flows along with practical experience in network performance analysis.
- Hands-on lab experience in network design, architecture, instantiation, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Excel including Visual Basic for report automation, and working knowledge of PowerPoint or Visio for documentation.
- Fluency in English is required.
