Vice President Technology at sofatutor GmbH

We are looking for a Vice President of Technology to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. At sofatutor, we operate a leading digital learning platform that supports over one million students, parents, and teachers through interactive exercises, educational videos, and learning games. Our mission is to make education accessible and effective for everyone. We pride ourselves on being a dynamic, solution-oriented team that embraces modern tools like artificial intelligence and values constant growth through feedback. As our new VP of Technology, you will lead our technical strategy and oversee a department of approximately 40 professionals, ensuring our products continue to evolve to meet the needs of our users.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of all technology initiatives at sofatutor while leading and mentoring a team that includes engineering managers, staff engineers, and agile coaches.
• Collaborate closely with our executive leadership and product teams to define and execute a scalable, AI-supported technical strategy.
• Provide hands-on guidance to your leadership team to foster a stable, high-performing delivery environment that prioritizes user-centric web development.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in an executive leadership role, specifically in managing and mentoring other leaders within technical organizations.
• A proven track record of scaling technical teams and building user-focused web products.
• Strong technical foundations, ideally with a background in software development and familiarity with modern stacks like Ruby, Rails, React, and AWS.
• A keen interest in integrating AI tools into the development lifecycle to drive efficiency and innovation.
• Fluency in both German (at least C1 level) and English, as you will be communicating across diverse teams.
