What you bring

We are seeking an experienced Technical Software Engineering Manager to guide our AI-focused team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. In this executive-level role you will combine hands-on development with team leadership, dedicating roughly half your time to writing and reviewing code while steering architecture decisions that keep our systems scalable and reliable. Your background in engineering, Python, JavaScript, React, SQL Server, MySQL, OpenSearch, Redis, MemCached, .NET, and C# will be essential as you help us deliver performant, well-tested software that supports millions of learners every day. Three core responsibilities stand out: leading a team of five to seven engineers and quality-assurance specialists, ensuring every release meets high standards of performance and maintainability, and collaborating with product, design, and QA colleagues to translate ideas into production-ready features. The position is located at our United States office.

Requirements

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline and bring at least eight years of professional software-development experience, including substantial full-stack work with Python and JavaScript frameworks such as React. You are comfortable with relational databases like SQL Server and MySQL as well as alternative data stores such as OpenSearch, Redis, and MemCached, and you have some exposure to the .NET framework and C#. Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is expected. On the interpersonal side, you have demonstrated success managing engineering teams, excel at problem-solving, communicate clearly in English, and thrive when mentoring others in a collaborative environment. A high sense of urgency paired with a genuine passion for continuous learning will help you guide the team through emerging technologies and evolving industry practices. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and large language models is viewed as a plus, though we welcome applicants who are eager to grow into any of these areas.
