At Open Government Products (OGP), we function like a startup embedded within the government. Our team consists of engineers, designers, and product managers who are passionate about creating technology that serves the public good. We focus on identifying real-world problems, prototyping solutions rapidly, and launching products that make a tangible impact on a large scale. By operating with a flat hierarchy and minimal bureaucracy, we empower our team to build user-centric innovations that improve the lives of citizens.
About the Role
We are searching for a Technical Lead Software Engineering Manager to join us in a full-time capacity. This is a hybrid position where you will lead a team while remaining deeply involved in the technical execution of our projects. You will be expected to balance people management with hands-on development, meaning you will spend your time writing production code, defining engineering standards, and making critical architectural decisions alongside your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deliver high-quality, scalable systems from the initial prototype phase through to production.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers, fostering their professional growth through code reviews, pairing, and regular coaching.
- Drive engineering excellence by implementing best practices in security, testing, observability, and CI/CD workflows.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have a proven background as a Lead or Senior Engineer with experience in shipping and scaling production-grade systems. We are looking for someone who possesses a strong grasp of modern software engineering principles and enjoys the challenge of switching between high-level strategy and low-level coding. You must be able to navigate ambiguity, make difficult technical trade-offs, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A mission-driven mindset is essential, as you will be building tools that impact the community at scale.
Location
This position is based in Singapore and requires an on-site presence.
Compensation and Benefits
We believe in providing an environment that supports both autonomy and continuous learning. Our team members enjoy the freedom to voice their opinions and shape the direction of our products. We prioritize a fail-fast approach to innovation through rapid prototyping and offer flexible work arrangements to ensure productivity. Furthermore, we support your professional development through dedicated learning months and hackathons, allowing you to stay at the forefront of new architectures and frameworks while contributing to meaningful public projects.
