At Wonderschool, we use technology to empower child care providers, helping them build high-quality businesses while creating an accessible marketplace for parents. We are looking for a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer to join our team and scale our payment processing systems, ensuring our financial workflows remain reliable, secure, and efficient for providers everywhere.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects by breaking down requirements and planning the development of mission-critical features.
- Design and build a robust Payments Platform that prioritizes stability and performance.
- Architect asynchronous systems capable of handling large data volumes while maintaining auditability and accuracy.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into technical roadmaps.
- Troubleshoot intricate technical issues and implement effective, long-term solutions.
- Write and deploy high-quality code while iterating on services that are actively serving traffic.
- Optimize database performance and integrity across both SQL and NoSQL environments.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including Kubernetes clusters and service meshes.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and high engineering standards through code reviews and mentorship.
Must-haves
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Over 8 years of professional experience in full-stack software development.
- Deep expertise in payment gateways, specifically with Stripe or similar platforms.
- Proven success building and maintaining high-traffic web applications and APIs with a focus on observability and monitoring.
- Strong proficiency in Postgres and Firestore, including advanced database design.
- Experience with serverless computing and platforms like Firebase.
- Extensive background in Google Cloud Platform, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipeline management.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical designs to diverse audiences.
- Professional fluency in English.

- Experience working with functional programming languages.
- Background in supporting highly available services with 99.99% uptime or higher.
