THE OPPORTUNITY
Vir is seeking an information security summer associate for Vir’s global information security program. Reporting to the Director, Information Security, you will focus on learning fundamental methods of information security (configuration management, third party risk, threat intelligence and security operations). The ideal candidate will have familiarity with technology but bring a lot of enthusiasm to learn more of enthusiasm to learn more.
Vir’s IT department supports staff based in offices and laboratories in the US and Switzerland as well as remote employees. Vir’s IT architecture is cloud-first, leveraging a set of integrated cloud-based applications to provide a digital workplace for Vir staff.
This is a 3 month SF based position. This role is located in San Francisco at our corporate office and there is a requirement to be onsite at least three days per week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Learn about threat intelligence, anomalous behavior detections and information security reporting
- Coordinate effective triage and response to investigations escalated by Vir’s security operations center
- Collaborate with security team on security awareness content
- Prepare reports and presentations on cybersecurity topics
- Continual learning to maintain awareness of potential threats and countermeasures
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
- 2+ years of college education
- 2+ years exposure to technology
- Self-starter with strong task management and communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Highly organized
- Ability to project prioritize and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to come to office to work 1-2 days per week

The expected salary range for this position is $23.00 to $34.00/ Hour . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
