Staff Software Engineer at Parafin

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our engineering organization on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. In this role you will design and operate the backend systems that power our embedded financial products, collaborate across Product, Data Science, and Operations, and help shape the technical direction of multiple teams.

Key outcomes

• Design, implement, and operate scalable backend services that support merchant-facing and partner-facing financial products.
• Own major technical initiatives from initial concept through production deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Build and refine APIs that allow external platforms to integrate Parafin’s funding, spend management, and savings tools.
• Continuously improve system performance, security, and reliability through targeted optimizations and architectural refinements.
• Mentor engineers across teams, establish technical standards, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence.

Requirements

• Six or more years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to fintech or financial services environments.
• Strong proficiency in backend development using Python, Go, or comparable languages.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating systems on AWS or GCP, including the construction of distributed, highly available architectures.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems principles, relational and non-relational databases, and modern API development practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Professional fluency in English.

• Demonstrated interest in creating financial products that directly support the growth and resilience of small businesses.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $235,000 to $300,000. In addition to base compensation, we provide an equity grant, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off with work-from-home flexibility, commuter benefits, paid parental leave, a 401(k) plan, an employee assistance program, and daily catered lunches.
