The role

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Platform Team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level role where you will play a critical part in reimagining the future of life insurance. You will focus on our underlying infrastructure and services, ensuring our systems remain reliable and efficient as we scale. This is a remote position available to candidates residing in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, KS, MA, MD, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA, WA, or WI.

Core responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust cloud infrastructure, developer tools, and monitoring systems to support our engineering teams.
• Solve complex technical challenges and develop software solutions that help democratize access to life insurance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to analyze data, improve system performance, and implement high-standard security practices.

Skills and experience

We value general technical proficiency and problem-solving ability above mastery of any single tool. To be successful in this role, you should have:

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including a strong grasp of data structures and algorithms.
• Proven expertise working with public cloud providers, preferably GCP, and infrastructure services like GKE, BigQuery, or VertexAI.
• Familiarity with standard observability tools such as DataDog, Grafana, or Sentry.
• A bachelor’s degree in a technical field like CS, CE, or EE, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with modern backend technologies, such as Clojure or the JVM, and infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and Docker.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary range for this position is $162,000 to $210,000 per year, depending on your location and experience. Beyond the base pay, we support our team with a comprehensive benefits package:
