At Compound Planning, we are dedicated to creating the next generation of financial planning platforms. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team and help us deliver a premier experience that allows clients to visualize their entire financial picture, work effectively with advisors, and access sophisticated financial tools. You will operate within a collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to develop high-quality, scalable software solutions. Please note that we are currently unable to provide work visa sponsorship, so all applicants must possess authorization to work in the United States.
Key outcomes
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-quality applications.
- Take full ownership of the end-to-end delivery of features, managing projects from initial concept through to final deployment.
- Create elegant and scalable software architectures that address complex business challenges.

Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional experience in software development.
- Proven track record of building APIs, backend systems, and frontend architectures.
- Deep technical proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- A solid grasp of software engineering principles and computer science fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, particularly when dealing with ambiguous or changing requirements.
- A proactive, startup-oriented mindset with a high degree of personal ownership.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an agile team.
- The ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- The ability to align your working hours with United States time zones.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience within the FinTech sector or a startup environment.
- Strong proficiency with modern web application technologies.
- Experience building integrations with external data sources or developing high-quality data visualizations.
- Familiarity with our core tech stack, including Node.js, React, Next.js, Postgres, and AWS services.
- Experience managing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
- A strong understanding of security best practices.
- Experience integrating or optimizing AI and machine learning solutions.
- Background in mobile development.
