We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. At Warby Parker, we are on a mission to inspire the world with vision, purpose, and style. As a leader on our engineering team, you will architect and build the platforms that power our search, recommendations, and personalization efforts, helping millions of customers discover their perfect frames across our retail and e-commerce channels.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the teams designing and developing the backend applications that drive our business operations.
- Drive the adoption of modern technologies to evolve our products and tackle complex challenges of scale through creative problem-solving.
- Maintain high standards of code quality and system resilience by leading code reviews and implementing a test-minded approach throughout the development lifecycle.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, with at least 7 years in software development.
- Proven expertise in building and scaling search, recommendation, and personalization systems within production environments.
- Mastery of high-level programming languages such as Golang, Python, or C#.
- Strong background in AWS cloud technologies, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures designed for high availability and low latency.
- Deep understanding of the full recommendation stack, including feature engineering, data pipelines, model serving, and A/B testing frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders and mentor other engineers.
What we offer
