Dutchie is the leading technology platform in the cannabis industry, powering thousands of dispensaries across North America. Since our founding in 2017, we have raised over $600 million to support our mission of providing safe access to cannabis while empowering local communities. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help us scale our e-commerce platform and mentor our growing engineering team in a fully remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Tackle complex technical challenges with minimal oversight and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as a technical leader by providing architectural guidance and mentoring junior engineers.
- Actively participate in on-call rotations to debug, mitigate, and resolve critical incidents.
- Collaborate with squad captains to define roadmaps and drive high-quality, scalable technical projects.
- Promote engineering excellence by teaching the team how to build reliable, performant solutions using industry-standard tools.
Must-haves
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering.
- Expertise in backend development using Ruby on Rails and Node.js.
- Strong proficiency in React for building high-quality user interfaces.
- Deep experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
- Proven track record of designing and maintaining distributed systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work within a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise systems.
- Technical background in e-commerce applications.
- Specific expertise in profiling and tuning MongoDB.

The salary range for this position is $162,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
