Staff Software Engineer at Neon

The opportunity

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who will act as both a technical reference for the team and an active hands-on contributor. In this role you will shape architecture, guide development practices, and still write a significant amount of production code. Your work will directly influence how our products scale to serve even more customers while keeping systems reliable and secure.

A day in the life

• You collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to translate business goals into technical plans, then implement those plans in code using Golang, .NET with C#, gRPC, and related services.
• You review architecture decisions, monitor system metrics, and refine our development lifecycle so that new features reach customers smoothly and safely.
• You pair with teammates on complex tasks, share knowledge through code reviews and documentation, and help the team adopt improvements that raise overall quality and speed.

Who you are

You bring deep technical experience in software development and a track record of delivering high-quality products on schedule. You are comfortable working with agile methods and continuously look for ways to improve processes and results. Strong communication skills help you work effectively across different teams, and you care deeply about building systems that are scalable, secure, and dependable. Because our teams communicate in Portuguese, fluency in that language is essential. Familiarity with tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Kanban supports your daily workflow, while experience with relational databases and messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ is a plus.
