About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. In this role, you will serve as a founding member of our new Video Engineering team. You will act as a hands-on architect and engineer, taking ownership of our end-to-end video pipeline. Your work will involve evolving our live streaming and post-game capabilities, simplifying the developer experience for our product teams, and ensuring our platform remains scalable and resilient enough to handle millions of streams and clips every year.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and support video features across the entire pipeline, including ingestion, transcoding, storage, and playback at scale.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define and iterate on the strategic technical roadmap for our video infrastructure.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, conduct code reviews, and lead architectural discussions to foster a culture of technical excellence.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in video and audio streaming, particularly regarding live-streamed user-generated content. You should have extensive experience building scalable video pipelines in cloud environments like AWS. Proficiency in languages such as Golang, C++, Rust, Python, Node, or TypeScript is essential, as is experience with mobile development in Kotlin or Swift. You should be deeply familiar with video packaging principles, codecs, and tools such as HLS, DASH, FFMPEG, RTMP, H.264, and VP9. Additionally, you should possess a proven track record of technical leadership and the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Location
This position is remote and can be performed from anywhere in the United States, with the exception of AK, DE, HI, IA, LA, MS, MT, OK, and SC.

- Unlimited vacation policy.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401k retirement plans with company match.
- Life and disability insurance.
- Maternity and paternity leave.
