The role
We are searching for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Platform team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position where you will play a critical role in a high-impact group of engineers supporting our entire 30-person organization. As a remote-first company, we welcome applicants from anywhere. You will be responsible for balancing rapid growth with system stability, ensuring our infrastructure remains performant and secure as we scale from tens of thousands of users to the next level.
Core responsibilities
- Architect and evolve our core systems, including databases and distributed job processing, to meet the demands of our growing user base.
- Design and implement developer tooling that makes our deployment processes safer, more reproducible, and highly efficient.
- Lead our observability and monitoring strategies while guiding incident response to ensure our systems remain reliable and our on-call experience is positive.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong background in backend engineering and public cloud environments. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in backend development.
- A proven history of scaling production systems and leading cross-functional projects that drive significant business impact.
- Deep technical knowledge of end-to-end request flows, including load balancing, CDN/WAF configurations, and backend service interactions.
- Strong familiarity with SLAs and SLOs and the ability to implement these frameworks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing technical debt and fostering high engineering standards across multiple teams.
- Familiarity with tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Infrastructure as Code (specifically Terraform) is highly valued.
Compensation and benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is $210,000 to $278,000 (USD or CAD). In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family:
