Staff Software Engineer, Backend at Sound.xyz

The role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our backend team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position for an experienced engineer who wants to shape our technical strategy while remaining hands-on with our codebase. You will work remotely, and we require that you be based in North American time zones between GMT-8 and GMT-5 to ensure effective collaboration with our team.

Core responsibilities

• Define the technical vision for our engineering team and guide our long-term architecture.
• Design and build the core backend infrastructure that powers our artist pages, NFT economic tools, and community governance features.
• Mentor other engineers and establish best practices for code quality and developer experience across the organization.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong foundation in backend development and a passion for the music industry. Our requirements include:

• At least 6 years of professional experience building production-grade software.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and GraphQL is highly valued.
• Experience working with distributed systems and complex architectural challenges.
• A track record of contributing to open-source projects.
• Fluency in English to communicate effectively with our global team.
• Experience with blockchain technology and real-time data pipelines.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards for continuous integration and system reliability.
