Staff Firmware Engineer at Range Energy

The role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Firmware Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This executive-level position is perfect for a builder who is passionate about open-source projects and creating robust, scalable software. You will play a critical role in our mission by developing the platform software and firmware that powers our eTrailer system, working at the intersection of energy management, functional safety, and software-defined vehicle architecture.

Core responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and document embedded software features and tools for the electronic control units within our trailer platform.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, systems, and validation engineers, to integrate features and maintain high standards for software development.
• Work directly with external suppliers to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of their software within our broader trailer system.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming and experience developing or debugging applications on embedded Linux.
• Deep understanding of modern SoC architectures, operating system fundamentals, and hardware-software interfaces.
• Experience with Git for version control and familiarity with CAN bus and automotive control architectures.
• Experience developing applications for real-time operating systems.

Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary range of $200,000 to $260,000. In addition to base pay, all full-time employees receive equity compensation as part of our commitment to shared success, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
