We are looking for a dedicated Staff Engineer to join our team and shape the future of the Upbound Console. As the primary interface for our customers, this platform is the face of our product. You will play a vital role in crafting experiences that not only function seamlessly but also delight our users. We operate as a fully remote team, and we value engineers who are passionate about building high-quality, user-centric software that makes a tangible impact on our business goals.
Key outcomes
- Design and implement the user-facing features of the Upbound Console.
- Develop robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs to power dynamic data visualizations and application experiences.
- Ensure our Single Page Applications remain performant and reliable across various browser environments.
- Take ownership of the full project lifecycle, from initial discovery and architecture to production deployment.
- Maintain high code standards by authoring comprehensive test plans and conducting thorough unit and integration testing.
- Mentor junior team members and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on design documents and pull requests.
- Collaborate effectively across different disciplines to drive our shared mission forward.
- Proactively identify, report, and resolve issues within both public and private projects.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building responsive, high-performance user interfaces, ideally using TypeScript.
- Deep expertise in designing and developing Single Page Applications, with a strong preference for React.
- Proven ability to build APIs and services that prioritize security, scalability, and observability.
- Strong background in testing methodologies using tools like Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress.
- Proficiency in modern CSS techniques, including Flex and Grid, to create beautiful layouts.
- Experience managing complex application state with Redux and optimizing build processes with Webpack.
- A deep understanding of cloud infrastructure or Kubernetes management challenges.
- Familiarity with modern operational workflows, such as CI/CD, IaC, and GitOps.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience thriving in a remote or distributed startup environment.
- Practical experience building backend services using the Go programming language.
- A track record of managing production workloads on Kubernetes.
- Active participation in the tech community, such as contributing to open source projects, blogging, or speaking at conferences.
