Staff Engineer, Platform at Cardata

Cardata is transforming the world of mileage reimbursement, and we are looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to help us build the foundation of our next-generation platform. In this remote, full-time role, you will lead the design and development of scalable systems while shaping our engineering culture and technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build full-stack solutions using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS.
• Develop foundational components for our new platform, including work on our design system and component library.
• Design, maintain, and test new platform features while ensuring high code quality.
• Set and advocate for engineering best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.
• Lead unit testing initiatives and maintain high test coverage, ideally using Jest.
• Engage in architecture reviews, RFC discussions, and code reviews to maintain technical excellence.
• Partner with product managers and designers to turn complex requirements into successful deliverables.
• Mentor other engineers and share knowledge about emerging industry trends and tools.
• Manage complex projects by breaking them down into actionable milestones.

Must-haves

• 8 to 12 years of experience creating highly reliable, scalable software systems.
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Strong background in TDD and unit testing frameworks like Jest.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and Agile or Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working with AWS services like Lambda, EC2, and SNS/SQS.
• Excellent communication skills and a product-focused mindset.
• Proven ability to own projects from the initial concept through to deployment.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
