Staff Distributed Systems Engineer at Caldera

We are currently seeking a talented engineer to help us pioneer the future of blockchain interoperability through our new Metalayer product, which supports a growing network of over 75 rollups.

About the Role

We are looking for a Staff Distributed Systems Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this senior-level role, you will focus on designing and implementing the critical smart contracts and off-chain infrastructure that facilitate secure cross-chain interactions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of our interoperability solutions while working on complex challenges like proof verification and developer-friendly cross-chain interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build the Metalayer, our high-performance and stack-agnostic solution for blockchain interoperability.
• Develop reference relayers and solvers using Go, Rust, and Solidity.
• Create secure and efficient EVM smart contracts that serve as the backbone of our interop system and provide robust tools for external developers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in building decentralized systems and a passion for high-quality code. We look for the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of professional engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to high-availability distributed systems.
• Deep technical proficiency in Go or Rust.
• Proven experience building complex Ethereum decentralized applications using Solidity or Yul.
• A mindset focused on security, especially when building systems that manage user funds.
• Strong capabilities in performance optimization and identifying system bottlenecks.
