We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join our team at Sound. We are building a new music economy that prioritizes artists and helps fans form deeper connections with the music they love.
Responsibilities
- Define the technical direction for our engineering team and help shape our long-term vision.
- Lead the architecture of critical systems while proactively addressing scaling challenges.
- Design and build the core backend infrastructure that powers our platform.
- Create a high-quality, product-focused API layer for our internal front-end and future external developers.
- Champion code quality and improve the overall developer experience.
- Enhance our real-time blockchain data pipelines.
- Collaborate on improving our deployment, logging, metrics, and service health monitoring.
- Establish best practices for backend development and mentor other engineers on the team.
Must-haves
- At least 6 years of experience building production software.
- Availability to work within North American time zones, specifically between GMT-8 and GMT-5.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- A history of public contributions to open-source projects.
- Experience tackling complex challenges related to distributed systems.
- Practical knowledge of TypeScript and GraphQL.
