The opportunity

We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join our team and help us build a sophisticated workflow intelligence platform. In this role, you will be a key technical leader, working directly with our founders and senior team members who bring experience from companies like Uber, Amazon, and Square. You will play a vital role in shaping our product roadmap and driving the architecture of our serverless cloud environment. This is a remote position, and we are looking for someone who is ready to take ownership and help us scale our impact.

A day in the life

• Lead the design and execution of large-scale system architectures, ensuring our backend remains scalable and reliable as we grow.
• Collaborate closely with our CTO and engineering leadership to define technical strategy and translate complex initiatives into clear, executable milestones.
• Mentor other engineers and champion high standards for performance, testing, and observability across the entire development lifecycle.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with over 10 years of professional experience, specifically within backend development and database management. You possess a strong product sense, meaning you understand not just how to write clean code, but how to build features that provide real value to our users. You are a collaborative communicator who thrives in team environments and is passionate about coaching senior engineers. You are comfortable working with a modern tech stack, including Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and AWS serverless services like Lambda, AppSync, and DynamoDB. Above all, you are a continuous learner who is excited to tackle new challenges and solve complex technical problems.
