Staff Backend Engineer at Lightning AI

Key outcomes

• Develop and scale the Lightning AI platform across our full stack, including APIs, CLI tools, billing systems, security, and third-party integrations.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code using Go.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to drive features from initial concept to final release.
• Set the technical direction for major projects and strengthen our overall system architecture.
• Champion software quality through automation and continuous delivery while actively reducing technical debt.
• Mentor other engineers to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages professional growth.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior or Staff level engineer.
• Deep proficiency in Go (Golang).
• Strong background in building and maintaining backend systems, including APIs, security protocols, and integrations.
• Experience with CLI development and billing infrastructure.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to navigate high-uncertainty environments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $250,000, depending on leveling. We also provide equity compensation with a one-year cliff and monthly vesting. Our comprehensive benefits package for U.S. employees includes:
