About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Back-End Engineer to join us as a full-time contractor. This is an executive-level role where you will act as both a technical leader and a visionary for our complex, high-performing systems. You will work closely with our Engagement team to architect scalable solutions for our digital classroom and learning tools, directly influencing how students interact with our platform and optimizing our tutor-supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team while upholding architectural standards and best practices.
- Lead the design of complex software solutions by making critical decisions regarding technologies, frameworks, and design patterns.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers and designers to translate customer needs into high-quality, performant, and extensible code.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of software engineering experience with a proven history of managing complex systems.
- Proficiency in Go, Ruby, or Python, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Go.
- Significant experience working within AWS or GCP cloud architecture environments.
- A demonstrated ability to mentor senior-level engineers and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- A hands-on approach to development, including active coding and conducting thorough code reviews.
Location
This is a remote position, and we are looking for candidates based in South America.
