We operate as a distributed team across the United States, prioritizing asynchronous communication while maintaining a strong culture of collaboration through regular calls and occasional in-person gatherings.

Key outcomes

• Lead high-impact technical projects from initial design through to final implementation, ensuring our technology roadmap aligns with business growth.
• Serve as a technical expert for our architecture, which utilizes a Vue.js front end, a Python Django API, and Google Cloud Platform services including Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery.
• Proactively identify and address technical debt by implementing industry best practices in system design and software development.
• Anticipate potential roadblocks and develop effective mitigation strategies to ensure the successful delivery of engineering initiatives.
• Establish and reinforce high standards for code quality, project scoping, and execution across the engineering team.
• Collaborate closely with our full-stack engineers, data team, and IT leadership to drive process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong preference for back-end expertise within the healthcare industry.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, specifically with Django and the Django Rest Framework.
• Solid understanding of DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, Terraform for infrastructure as code, container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud database management.
• Strong background in relational database design, particularly with PostgreSQL, including indexing and optimization strategies.
• Proven ability to design and implement complex state management systems, such as rules engines and state machines.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments where requirements may evolve.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a passion for mentoring team members and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Fluency in English.
