Sr Software Engineer (Back End) at Nexla

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our backend team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a high-impact role where you will design and deliver robust backend solutions that power our core data flows. You will be part of a small, agile team, so we are looking for someone who is resourceful, collaborative, and ready to take on the challenge of building greenfield software that processes massive volumes of data.

What will you do?

• Architect and develop backend solutions using JVM-based languages to support our core platform.
• Tackle complex data engineering challenges by designing systems capable of handling high-throughput, large-scale data processing.
• Collaborate across teams, including Product, API, and UI, while contributing to our on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and performance.

To succeed in this role, you should be a curious engineer who is passionate about exploring new architectures. We expect you to bring the following skills and experience to the table:

• At least 7 years of experience in backend development within large-scale engineering organizations.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL, along with a deep understanding of how to optimize APIs.
• Hands-on experience with backend infrastructure, specifically Kubernetes, Kafka, and various database technologies.
• Familiarity with communication protocols like gRPC and REST.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate customer business problems into effective technical solutions.
• Fluency in English.
