We are looking for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team and lead the development of our next generation protein sequencing systems. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will oversee a talented group of engineers and drive the architecture of our instruments from initial concept through to final release.
Responsibilities
- Lead core development teams focused on our protein sequencing technology.
- Take full ownership of system architecture, requirements, specifications, and interface control documentation.
- Provide direct management and mentorship to your engineering team.
- Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, software, and systems integration disciplines to ensure we meet customer needs.
- Direct the design, execution, and analysis of feasibility testing.
- Manage technical risks, including leading dFMEA activities.
- Partner with external development and manufacturing vendors to ensure our designs are both innovative and manufacturable.
Must-haves
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a preference for Mechanical or Systems backgrounds.
- At least 15 years of engineering experience, including 5 or more years in project leadership and direct management roles.
- Proven expertise with complex mechano-optical systems and medical devices.
- Experience navigating a formal Product Development Process and contributing to Design History Files.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts to an executive audience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle up to 20% travel.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience or certification in Design for Six Sigma.
Benefits
The estimated base salary for this position in the United States is between $200,000 and $240,000. Your final compensation will be determined based on your unique skills, experience, and location.
