At Nomic, our mission is to make biology easier to measure. We created nELISA, the world’s highest-throughput proteomic platform, by combining DNA nanotechnology, high-dimensional flow cytometry, lab automation, and machine learning. Since spinning out of McGill University, we have partnered with dozens of leading drug-discovery groups, including six of the top ten pharmaceutical companies, and have already profiled more than 60 million proteins across 400,000 samples. With a recently closed $42 million Series B round, our facility now has the capacity to process over 2.5 million samples per year and generate 500 million protein assays, supporting breakthroughs in drug development and biomarker research.
The role
We are hiring a full-time Senior Bioinformatics & ML Scientist to work remotely. This senior-level position combines hands-on technical work with mentorship responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to shape how large-scale proteomic and multi-omics data are analyzed and applied across the industry.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine analysis pipelines that handle quality control, normalization, batch correction, feature engineering, and integration of proteomic and transcriptomic datasets.
- Develop and productionize machine-learning models that support target discovery, perturbation analysis, functional genomics, and phenotype classification, then translate these capabilities into customer-facing features within the Nomic Portal.
- Partner with product, commercial, and scientific teams to interpret multi-omics results, communicate actionable insights to customers, and contribute to scientific publications and technical content that reinforce Nomic’s leadership in proteomics.
Skills and experience
- PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, or a related quantitative field.
- Direct experience analyzing proteomics and transcriptomics datasets, ideally from target-discovery, perturbation, or functional-genomics studies.
- At least five years of hands-on experience building bioinformatics or machine-learning pipelines in Python and/or R, along with strong statistical and data-wrangling skills for quality control and normalization.
- Proven ability to stay hands-on with code while mentoring teammates, familiarity with reproducibility and collaborative coding practices, and experience working across engineering, scientific, and product teams.
- Track record of contributing to scientific publications or technical content; customer-facing scientific work and familiarity with how pharma and biotech teams evaluate biological data are highly valued.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Compensation and benefits
We offer the flexibility of fully remote work, allowing you to collaborate with a diverse, mission-driven team from anywhere.
How to apply
If you are excited to advance large-scale proteomics and help turn complex biological data into meaningful discoveries, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your application so we can learn more about how your experience aligns with this role.
