Relay is a Raleigh-based startup on a mission to transform how frontline workers communicate. We have successfully disrupted the handheld radio industry by creating a rugged, internet-enabled smart device paired with a powerful cloud platform. By providing real-time data, location insights, and instant communication, we help frontline teams work faster and safer. We are looking for a passionate Software QA Developer I to join our growing engineering team and help us continue delivering high-quality solutions that solve real-world problems for our B2B clients.
The role
We are seeking a junior-level Software QA Developer I to join our product engineering team on a full-time basis. This position is based at our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. We operate under a hybrid work model, requiring team members to be in the office at least three days per week, specifically Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, to foster our collaborative, high-energy culture.
Core responsibilities
- Verify the functionality of new and existing features across the Relay App and our web-based dashboard.
- Conduct end-to-end testing that bridges our physical devices with our server-side infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the development team during sprint planning and design phases to analyze requirements, document test methodologies, and confirm the resolution of defects.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong analytical mindset and a desire to grow within a dynamic environment. We require the following qualifications:
- One to three years of experience in testing environments, such as Android, iOS, web, or networking.
- Proficiency with Linux command-line tools like bash, grep, and vim.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and core QA processes, including smoke, regression, and functional testing.
- Familiarity with Android Debug Bridge and device logging tools.
- Experience developing or debugging automated test scripts, with Python coding skills considered a significant advantage.
- An associate degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively relay technical findings to the wider team.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in empowering our team to do the best work of their lives. We provide a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your health, family, and future, including:
- Full coverage for medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents.
- Life insurance along with short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- A 401k savings plan featuring a company match.
- Generous paid time off and dedicated parental leave, including a baby cash reward.
- Access to wellness programs and an office environment stocked with snacks and modern technology.
How to apply
If you are ready to help us build the future of frontline communication, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application for review. Note that all final candidates will be asked to complete a background and reference check as part of our hiring process.
