Software Engineering Manager at Paytient

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of five engineers and drive the development of products that impact millions of lives.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop a team of five or more engineers while fostering a culture of career growth and collaboration.
• Manage the full lifecycle and technical execution of two critical products to ensure high-quality, scalable results.
• Work alongside Product, Design, and Business teams to align technical strategy with company objectives.
• Collaborate with senior staff to make informed technical decisions and maintain system security and reliability.
• Improve internal development processes to boost efficiency and innovation across the engineering department.
• Lead recruiting and onboarding efforts to grow our team and maintain our high standards.

Must-haves

• At least six years of professional software development experience, including a minimum of two years in a management or leadership capacity.
• Proven ability to deliver software within cross-functional teams using modern development workflows.
• Technical proficiency in areas such as React, Java, AWS, and Terraform.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• A mission-driven, humble approach to leadership and a bias for action in fast-paced environments.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience working within a high-growth startup environment.
• Background in healthcare technology, HRIS, payroll, or benefits administration.
