The role

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to join us on a full-time, remote basis. In this management-level position, you will take ownership of key components within our Business Essentials product line. You will lead a talented, distributed team of engineers and contractors, balancing high-level strategy with hands-on coding. Reporting directly to our VP of Engineering, you will play a vital role in shaping our product roadmap and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Core responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team by conducting code reviews, providing technical guidance, and fostering an environment of continuous professional growth.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data teams to deliver innovative features in an agile, fast-paced environment.
• Maintain operational excellence by ensuring our systems are scalable, observable, and reliable while managing complex project dependencies across the organization.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in software development and team leadership. We value candidates who are curious, independent, and effective communicators.

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Extensive experience building consumer-facing web applications and managing service-oriented architectures.
• Proficiency with our core technology stack, which includes Python, Django, Go, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and GraphQL.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform, and Kubernetes.
• A proven track record of shipping products in partnership with cross-functional teams using agile methodologies.
• Fluency in English, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions and present solutions to diverse stakeholders.
