We are currently expanding our engineering organization by building a dedicated data and analytics function, and we are looking for a visionary leader to guide this mission.
Key outcomes
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for our analytical data infrastructure.
- Architect the reporting framework that allows our engineering teams to embed analytics directly into our product.
- Design the integration between our transactional data stores and our analytical layers to ensure high performance and maintainability.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data and analytics engineers.
- Collaborate with product leadership to translate business needs into a clear, actionable technical roadmap.
- Establish rigorous data governance, quality standards, and observability protocols, including defining SLAs for data freshness.
- Drive architectural decisions through collaborative reviews with staff and principal engineers.
- Maintain a hands-on approach by contributing to architectural designs, reviewing schemas, and assisting the team with complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data or analytics engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in a technical lead or management role.
- Proven expertise in designing data infrastructure within the AWS ecosystem, specifically using Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, and S3.
- Deep understanding of data modeling and the design of ELT and ETL pipelines.
- Experience creating analytics-ready datasets and reporting frameworks for use by multiple engineering teams.
- Strong background in data pipeline observability, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Active use of AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor, with experience integrating AI-driven capabilities into SaaS products.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data architecture to non-technical stakeholders.
- A preference for simple, maintainable solutions over overly complex designs.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with embedded or in-app analytics within a SaaS platform.
- Familiarity with event streaming technologies such as Kinesis, MSK, or Kafka.
- Experience with AWS Glue, Athena, or Lake Formation.
- Background working in a B2B SaaS environment with 50 to 200 employees.
- Exposure to regulated software environments like SOC 2 or HIPAA.
- Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Metabase, Looker, or Tableau.
