About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager, Backend to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will lead a talented group of engineers in designing and implementing the cloud and on-prem infrastructure that powers our robotics products. You will work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering peers to ensure our technology remains safe, reliable, and effective, which includes occasional visits to farms to see our machines in action.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers to build and scale the infrastructure software that supports our LaserWeeding solution.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, testing, and deployment, while managing resources to meet project deadlines.
- Foster a culture of fast iteration and collaboration by working across multiple engineering disciplines and resolving technical or team conflicts.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams that have implemented services and distributed systems in both cloud and on-machine environments.
- Strong technical background with the ability to operate as a Lead Software Engineer in your area of expertise.
- A solid understanding of scalable cloud services, distributed systems, and infrastructure tooling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a desire to work in a multidisciplinary, office-based environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- A willingness and ability to conduct field visits to farms.
Location
This position is based in the United States and requires an on-site presence to foster our collaborative culture.
Compensation and Benefits
The target base salary range for this position is $195,000 to $217,500 USD. We offer a comprehensive benefits package to our full-time employees, including:
