Software Engineer at The RIPE NCC

With a history as one of the oldest Internet organizations in Europe, we operate from our vibrant office located in the east wing of Amsterdam Central Station. We bring together over 180 people from more than 44 countries, and we are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us continue our mission.

What you bring

In this full-time, hybrid role based in the Netherlands, you will join a diverse team of 45 engineers to build and maintain the systems that allow ISPs, governments, and universities to manage critical Internet resources. You will be expected to take ownership of your projects and contribute to the core services that keep the Internet running smoothly. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing pragmatic, maintainable technical solutions for complex software challenges.
• Developing new features across the full stack while maintaining existing services through the entire deployment lifecycle.
• Collaborating with our DevOps team to refine and improve our CI/CD pipelines while mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who possesses a strong foundation in software engineering, backed by either a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or at least five years of professional experience. You should be comfortable working with the JVM and have a proven ability to navigate the full stack, including front-end, back-end, and infrastructure components. We value a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a collaborative spirit, as our team thrives on knowledge sharing and clear communication. Fluency in English is required for this position, and you must be based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate.
