At Opal Security, we are redefining how enterprises handle identity governance in the age of AI. We believe that security should not be a roadblock to innovation, so we are building intelligent access management tools that provide clarity and control for complex digital environments. Our team is solving the chaos that arises when companies deploy countless service accounts and agents, and industry leaders like Figma and Databricks already trust us to secure their infrastructure. We are a group of people who truly enjoy collaborating, debating the best technical trade-offs, and building systems that make a genuine impact.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in either New York City or San Francisco. In this role, you will act as a bridge between our technology and our customers. You will not just be writing code to match a spec, but rather owning the entire problem space. You will work directly with security and engineering teams at both startups and Fortune 500 companies to understand their messy, real-world challenges and architect solutions that actually work. This is a chance to shape our product from the ground up and build tools that do not currently exist in the market.
A day in the life
- You will take ownership of critical product areas, moving from initial concept to production by designing and building features across our entire stack.
- You will collaborate directly with our customers to validate your ideas, ensuring that the systems you architect are scalable and solve their most pressing security needs.
- You will act as a multiplier for the rest of the engineering team by establishing new technical patterns, sharing your expertise, and writing high-quality code that others can build upon.
Who you are
You are a full-stack engineer who loves the challenge of working in undefined spaces where there is no playbook. You are comfortable taking a vague customer problem and turning it into a polished, functional solution. You care deeply about the why behind your work and are not afraid to challenge assumptions to find a better approach. You are a strong communicator who enjoys talking to users to understand their needs, and you have a genuine curiosity about identity governance, security, and access management. Proficiency in English is required for this role.
Why you'll love it here
We want our team to feel supported and empowered to do their best work. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits designed to take care of you and your well-being.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- A 401k retirement plan.
- Commuter benefits to make your travel easier.
- Generous paid time off to ensure you can recharge.
- Regular company retreats and team bonding trips, all fully covered by us.
