Software Engineer at BigCommerce

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. While we are not currently hiring for on-site roles in Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict, we are actively building a pipeline of talent for future opportunities and encourage you to submit your application for consideration as our needs evolve.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-performance web services and applications using a diverse technology stack including Scala, PHP, React, Ruby, and JavaScript.
• Create extensible, resilient integrations with third-party SOAP and REST APIs that function reliably across complex service architectures.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to define feature specifications, participate in technical architectural discussions, and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high quality.

Requirements

• Professional experience as a Software Engineer utilizing languages such as Ruby, Scala, JavaScript, or PHP.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in full-stack development, including a deep understanding of relational databases, distributed queuing systems, and cloud-based production environments.
• A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a passion for learning new technologies and solving complex problems.
• Previous experience with SaaS platforms is highly preferred, and familiarity with OAuth, SAML, or containerization tools like Docker is considered a plus.
