Software Engineer at Flock

At Flock, we are redefining the insurance industry through a data-driven approach that prioritizes safety over simple claims processing. We have already reached the milestone of insuring nearly 1 billion connected miles, helping major fleets like Amazon, DPD, Uber, and Bolt manage risk in real time. Having raised over £50M, we are now looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this hybrid role, you will help us build the next generation of our telemetry and safety platform, transforming complex data into actionable insights for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement intuitive, scalable user interfaces using React and TypeScript to visualize high-volume telemetry data.
• Develop and integrate with RESTful APIs via API Gateway, collaborating with backend teams to ensure efficient data delivery.
• Utilize AWS services such as Lambda and EventBridge to maintain and extend our event-driven telemetry pipeline, while using Terraform for infrastructure management.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who brings a strong technical foundation and a passion for building data-rich applications. To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, with a proven ability to create elegant, data-driven front-end features.
• Solid experience working with AWS in serverless or event-driven environments.
• A comfortable approach to handling and visualizing large datasets from telemetry or similar systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Exposure to Auth0 for authentication and Datadog for system monitoring is considered a significant advantage.
