UnitedMasters is transforming the music industry by building a marketplace that empowers artists to maintain ownership of their master recordings and keep up to 100% of their royalties. We provide a platform that connects independent creators with brands and fans, allowing them to earn and grow on their own terms. Our team is a diverse group of musicians, engineers, and storytellers who have previously contributed to organizations like YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, and Uber. We are currently seeking a Software Engineer, Web to help us continue disrupting the legacy music business through innovative technology. Please note that this is a hybrid position, requiring two days in the office and three days remote.
Key outcomes
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to conceptualize and build new features for our artist community.
- Take ownership of specific systems and features, ensuring their long-term health and performance.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code while participating in rigorous code reviews.
- Contribute to the entire application lifecycle, from initial coding to debugging and deployment.
- Refine our engineering standards, tooling, and internal processes to improve team efficiency.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Web engineer within an agile environment.
- Proven track record of developing, shipping, and maintaining applications using React or Next.js.
- Experience building web applications that integrate with RESTful APIs, manage local storage, handle network data synchronization, and implement user authentication.
- Strong proficiency with modern web technologies including Redux, Webpack, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
- Solid foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote-capable environment using collaboration tools like Slack, Jira, and Figma.
Preferred qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with audio and video file management, payment systems, animations, or data visualization tools.
- Expertise in API design and related concepts such as SOA, RPC, gRPC, or Thrift.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages beyond JavaScript, such as Java, Ruby, Python, or PHP.
- Strong database knowledge, including experience with both SQL and NoSQL systems.
- The ability to distill ambiguous requirements into actionable technical tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $195,000. This range is specific to our New York and California locations, and actual compensation may vary based on your specific location, experience, and skill set. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes hybrid work arrangements.
