Software Engineer, Server Applications at Sendbird

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our server applications team, where you will tackle complex challenges like optimizing latency for massive global user bases and developing high-performance, lightweight SDKs that empower our customers to integrate real-time communication seamlessly.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, high-capacity distributed systems to power our real-time messaging services.
• Design intuitive APIs that simplify complex architectural requirements.
• Create clear, customer-focused documentation for our APIs and messaging services.
• Engineer and maintain efficient, reliable services deployed across global cloud infrastructure.
• Manage the deployment and ongoing operations of our server-side environments.

Must-haves

• Expertise in server-side programming languages, including Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or C++.
• At least 6 years of professional experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining real-time systems.
• Strong grasp of multithreading and distributed architecture.
• Ability to think logically, persuade others, and work effectively within a team to deliver results.
• A proactive mindset for identifying root causes and crafting optimal solutions that avoid over or under-engineering.
• Professional proficiency in both Korean and English.

Nice-to-haves

• Direct experience building and operating real-time chat or messaging platforms.
• Proven track record of handling high concurrency and large-scale traffic.
• Operational experience with Unix or Linux systems.
• Deep understanding of event-driven frameworks, TCP/IP, and network programming.
• Knowledge of RDBMS, NoSQL, and distributed database systems.
• Familiarity with server virtualization, load balancing, and global infrastructure management.
• Experience leading development projects or teams.
