Software Engineer Security at Moderntreasury

At Modern Treasury, we are building the definitive operating system for global money movement. Our mission is to create the most trusted financial infrastructure available, helping companies unlock new revenue and streamline their payment operations through our suite of APIs and dashboards. As we expand into new payment rails, including stablecoins and traditional banking systems, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our security team. You will play a vital role in designing the controls that protect our platform, ensuring that we maintain a high standard of trust and compliance while supporting our rapid development pace.

What you'll be doing

• You will lead application security initiatives across our payment platform, which includes conducting threat modeling, performing secure code reviews, and defining security architecture for our newest product offerings.
• You will design and implement robust fraud detection and prevention systems to safeguard our expanding money movement capabilities, while partnering with engineering teams to embed security directly into the development lifecycle.
• You will drive technical strategy for customer-facing APIs and authentication systems, ensuring our infrastructure remains resilient against application-layer threats and API abuse.

What you'll bring

We are looking for a candidate who has a deep background in security and a passion for fintech. You should be fluent in English and possess the following qualifications:

• At least 7 years of experience in security engineering, with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on application and product security.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in the payments or fintech industry, including a strong grasp of money movement security challenges.
• Technical proficiency with Ruby on Rails and AWS, alongside a solid understanding of authentication systems, authorization models, and secure SDLC practices.
• Experience with compliance and regulatory standards, such as PCI DSS, BSA/AML, and KYC/KYB.
• A proven ability to influence security culture and mentor other engineers, balancing pragmatic risk management with the need for business velocity.
