At GumGum, we are redefining the digital advertising landscape by putting context first. We believe that the future of the internet should be equitable and non-invasive, which is why our platform uses advanced Artificial Intelligence to serve captivating ads based on a user's active frame of mind rather than their personal data. Our proprietary Mindset Matrix™ technology allows us to drive real consumer action while respecting privacy, making us a leader in the global ad tech space. We are a team that values innovation and authenticity, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for building a better, more secure digital future.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Ad Exchange development team. This is a vital role where you will help manage a highly distributed Java web service that processes an incredible 30 million requests per minute. You will work closely with product owners and cross-functional engineering teams to optimize our Real-Time Bidding processes, directly impacting one of our most important revenue streams. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the United States, requiring you to collaborate in-office two days per week to maintain our strong team culture.
A day in the life
- Design and maintain high-traffic web services using Java and the Spring Framework, while managing data across systems like MySQL, ScyllaDB, and Aerospike.
- Integrate sophisticated Machine Learning models into our Ad Exchange to improve key performance indicators like bid rates and net revenue.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to solve complex technical challenges, reduce system latency, and optimize infrastructure costs.
Who you are
You are a mid-level engineer who thrives in high-volume environments and enjoys working with distributed systems. You communicate clearly in English and have a proven track record of shipping production-ready code. Your background includes:
- Two to five years of development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java and Spring.
- Experience working with Kafka, Git, Gradle, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to bridge the gap between software engineering and Machine Learning methodologies.
- A preference for candidates who have worked with large-scale transaction systems or have previous experience in the Ad Tech industry.
Why you'll love it here
We are committed to your growth and well-being, offering a competitive annual salary range of $148,000 to $168,000. Beyond the paycheck, we provide a comprehensive rewards package designed to support you inside and outside of the office. Our benefits include:
- Medical insurance to keep you and your family healthy.
- An employer-matched 401k retirement plan to help you plan for the future.
- Generous paid time off and a flexible hybrid work environment.
- Dedicated resources for professional development to help you sharpen your skills and advance your career.
