Software Engineer - Frontend at Ladder

The role

We are looking for a Junior Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position based out of our headquarters in Palo Alto, and you will need to be onsite 2 to 3 days per week. In this role, you will work directly on the features that our customers interact with every day, helping us redefine the standards of life insurance through clean, efficient, and reliable code.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, and test reusable frontend systems that power our complex web applications.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality, user-facing products.
• Develop robust test strategies, including unit and functional tests, to ensure high code coverage and system reliability.

Skills and experience

We value technical proficiency and a passion for learning over mastery of any single tool, but you should bring the following qualifications to the team:

• At least 1 year of professional experience in frontend web development.
• Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with modern frameworks, specifically React.
• Familiarity with GraphQL and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
• A genuine interest in user experience and front-end architecture.

Compensation and benefits
